The ICEpdf Font Engine* provides embedded font support for:

  • TrueType, Font Subsets
  • Type3, CMaps (predefined and Embedded)
  • Type 0 CID
  • Type 2 CID
  • Type 0
  • Type 1 (CFF)
  • OpenType (True Type Outlines)
  • OpenType (CFF Type outlines)

Font Engine FAQ

Why is the ICEpdf Font Engine not Open Source?
The ICEpdf Font Engine contains third party technology that is only available to ICEsoft under commercial terms and conditions. The Font Engine is included in the ICEpdf Pro edition.

Can I use ICEpdf without the Font Engine?
Yes. The open source version of ICEpdf is configured to perform font substitution when the font engine is not present at runtime. The results of font substitution will vary depending on the types of fonts that are embedded in the PDF document. Both the ICEpdf Viewer Demo and the JSF Servlet Demo allow you to upload and test various PDF files with the Font Engine turned on or off.

Can I substitute my own Font Engine?
Yes. Developers can make modifications to ICEpdf including substituting the Font Engine.

Where do I get access to the Font Engine code?
A trial version of the Font Engine is available for download in the ICEpdf Pro Trial version on the download page.

How can I license the Font Engine?
The Font Engine is offered to all ICEpdf supported customers as part of the ICEpdf Pro. Refer to the ICEpdf Support Options for more imformation.
